Manchester City are set for this weekend's derby with a 4-1 win over Club Brugge in the Champions League on Wednesday.
Pep Guardiola says the European tie was "more important" than the clash with Manchester United on Saturday and that his side has provided a credible performance.
Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez, Rahim Sterling and Gabriel Jesus all scored as the Premier League champions won their first of three matches in all competitions.
Brugge got into the scoresheet with a ridiculous own goal from John Stones but three points saw City's edge near the knockout stage.
"At half-time the manager was not happy and you have to take his advice," Foden said. "She made some changes and we were much better in the second half.
"Once we got our rhythm the opportunities started to open up."
